Promoting Organizational Change Through the Freedom Self-Advocacy Curriculum
Project Update
- In 2006, 22 individuals with mental illness participated in a two-day training designed to teach them how to educate their peers about self-advocacy using the Freedom Self-Advocacy Curriculum developed by the Clearinghouse and its partners. After this training, several peer trainers have begun offering self-advocacy workshops to other clients at Thresholds in Chicago. An additional peer trainer training will occur in 2007, and peer-led self-advocacy workshops will continue to be offered and evaluated agency-wide.
